Rudder damaging rudder post?

Thanks to all the kind people on this web site who helped me and offered advice with the purchase of my Catalina 28. She is a 1999 model and we will call her Sea Change. When I hauled her out for an inspection I noticed that the rudder hits the rudder post on one side and did some damage to the gel coat on the rudder post. I believe the rudder should be centered so that it does not hit the rudder post. How is this adjustment made? Is Catalina responsible for the damaged to the gel coat on the rudder post? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Call Catalina

Stuart, Call Catalina. I do not own one but thru all the things thatI have heard and seen, Catalina is the best in customer service. They don't want to rebuild an old boat but they will tell yo how. They have a great service department. A factory service guy comes to Pittsburgh about once a year and does work on all the boats here. They don't have to be Catalina for them to do a repair. The newest boat here is maybe an 86. Call them they are good and have the right answers. r.w.landau
