This is the ongoing alteration of a cheap window unit for installation on a C27. Here is a pic or two of where the contraption is at now for your enjoyment and ongoing humorous jokes.:D The last pic is the "final" product with blue duct hose attached, will be taken out to boat to install hopefully tomorrow.:)

Sweet. Can you figure out how to remove the controls and remotely mount them?

Phil, the current plan is to take out that trap door at rear of galley (none of this applies to your boat anymore) and use that access for the return air. I'll drill a single hole throuh which to use the fan/low/high knob. I figure leave the temp off since we both know max is all that applies to our situation. I'll have a single 3 or 4" ducted vent to the left coming through wall with cold air which I can duct back to the salon area. Has the baby arrived yet?

No baby yet. 12 days left now..... Wife is just now starting to get cranky about being uncomfortable... She has had a remarkably easy pregnancy and we have been bleesed with really good health just about the whole way... He is right around the corner though for sure!

I really like where you are taking this AC thing, for when at the dock. I have to believe that I will be able to implement something similar even with my galley remodel. I have enough room I think just to pop a hole in the wall above the new sink, but I like the idea of kit-bashing something. Those 5K BTU units are only a Ben; not too much to lose if you goof up... I would consider running a hose up forward somehwere for the return air, and then midify ducting so that it blows out one or two places in the cabin. The whole unit can live in the port lazz; it is a cave in there...

Too many projects this year... Finishing up the boat and its mods, (thanks for adding AC as one, shaft packing too, thaanks to you :)) the baby... We are swaping campers for a little more room for the baby at our tiny lake spot, and that is happening in the next month. I also have decided to re-design and rebuild our dock. The drought this year points to a need for deeper dockage, so I have been working with lake management to get plans drawn and approved. It will be nice when done, but it is real work. I rationalize it away as necessary modification, as the DEQ is forcing their hand soon, and we have been told there will be a deadline sometime in the future to convert to compliant flotation. Everyone will be doing float replacement, so I am just getting an early start. Found a guy who bought too much flotation for another project elswewhere, so I got 6 of my 8 required floats at about half price... When opportunity knocks... :D

Get that AC installed and get us pics, and feedback on its performance! I am not going to be out there this year, but maybe next....
