The insert in the OEM extruded aluminum rub rail on my 1985 mac 25 is damaged. I think that I would like to remove the entire rub rail and replace it with something more flexible such as one from TACO marine. Anyone out there made such a change. If so what did you use and how did it go? Thanks.

let me know how it comes out, I'm thinking about replacing the rub rail too. my boat came with a rope rub rail that I'm not too fond of. My husband loves it, I just have to convince him he doesn't.
Not to start anything, but I'm with your husband-I think the rope looks awesome! Better than my old scarred rub rail
