Greetings, Has anyone recently installed a roller furling headsail system to their 27? I am looking for an inexpensive system and easy to install. Can you recommend a product or interject any other thoughts on the subject? Thanks Mike

FURLING

There are a number of good brands (Harken and Schaefer) on the market today. The difference between inexpensive (CDI) and one of the majors is not that much money. Spend a little more up front and it will pay for itself in the long run in quality and performance.

furler

I installed a Harken 1.5 furler on my 36 but now have a Schaffer 2100 on my 380. I like the Schaffer much better. When my Harken jammmed up in strong winds I could not get it unfurled because its not open like the Schaffer. Bottom line though, do get one with quality. That is not an area to skimp on!!!!Gary

CDI

I also had a cdi on my C27 and it worked fine, in fact I never had to let it slow, and could roll it up at any tack. But more important, in Santa Cruz we have to lower the mast to get under the brige. After several years of bending in half, it broke, they could not have been better. They only asked where so they could understand why and how to make them better. They trucked a new one right out, only a few days. I was very easy to put on. I know have a CDI on my C30. It also works fine. Hope this helps.
