Thanks guys, words cannot express how much I appreciate my friends here on SBO. Who knew back in 1998 that looking at two old H37-cutters would lead me here? Then a few of us suggested to Phil that maybe we needed a separate forum for the Cherubinis. I think it was less than a week before it appeared. Over the years I have met in person at least twenty members. Probably more as I think there were ten of us at dinner in Annapolis one year.

Blaise, you should know my sense of humor by now. You only get off easy because my boat isn't still in Florida. I hope we can meet up in Columbus. I could warm up Midnight Sun before you get back down there too. :)

I'm staying very busy before leaving for Florida. Thirty plus Sunday and over forty miles today on the trusty steed. I hope to finish that terrible wiring project before I go. I do have the new #6 cable for wiring the panel. Today I epoxied a piece of pine for the battery base in the bilge. Bill used starboard but I checked the price. Whoa!

P.S. Saw Ed A's post after I wrote this. Ed, great friend that he is, called today to make sure I didn't miss sailing on his "new" Catalina 40. He has already admitted that it is a step down from his cherished H37C.

Keep on trucking Ed. We live right off the east coast bike way, so tools etc are here if you need them in Maryland. God bless.

Ed;

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I can't say it any better than Jorge and the other guys. That's why we let Jorge hang around. Good weather and great blue highways on your road trip.

Hey Red, you don't really think that I am riding my bike to Florida. I could of course but I would never want to be away from my boat for that long.

Bill, Bradenton is a favorite place for me. And not just because you and Blaise live there. My son-in-law worked for the Pirates in the front office. All during spring training and at the games and then out at the "farm" the rest of the season. I used to get great tickets!

Thanks again everyone for your support. It will be two weeks tomorrow and I wish I could tell you it gets easier. Just too many reminders here at home. I'll be on the road a week from tomorrow. With these gas prices I should ride my bike!

Ed, I don't know your itinerary or means of travel, but if it fits your schedule, you're welcome to stay with us in New Smyrna for as long as you'd like. I still have
the H 30 C at the condo dock and there are slips open for owner's guest's boats for a week, if you're coming by boat. Send me a PM if this idea fits, and know you have our thoughts and prayers.

More Road Trip

Just can't thank you enough for all the good will and prayers. There have been many great diversions on this trip. Yesterday Ed A and I found 18 to 20 on Tampa Bay on his "new" C380. You'll remember that Ed had an H37C and the difference is incredible in two boats of the same length. Even with some sail issues we saw 7.8 on a broad reach. We stayed out to watch some Thursday night racing including Melges, Farrs, and lots of Js.

And I forgot to mention that I met a new friend at a bible class that my cycling friends invited me to. He is an older gentleman who wanted to discuss Cherubinis although he is now a confirmed kayaker. Turns out he owned hull #1 of the H25 for thirty years! And he sailed her on a lake north of Pittsburgh. Pretty amazing.

My Florida road trip is drawing to a close. I ride the bike 35 to 40 miles every morning, read good books, reflect too much, and miss my Admiral. I will spend Easter with Maura's sister and her husband then head north on April 11. Looking forward to Annapolis and then back here to New Port Richey where I can bug Ed for another ride. Wonder what the summer holds?
