I have to replace two rivets on my Vision 32 Vang Bracket on the mast. Does anyone know if Hunter used stainless steel or aluminum rivets?
Thanks Rich a rigger I know said to use stainless with Tel-Gel ordered the later ain't cheap but I have learned the hard way when you go cheap on a boat it will cost you more in the endI don't know what material that Hunter used, but when I re-riveted hardware on my mast I used stainless with a liberal coating of Tel-Gel to inhibit corrosion. Just my 2 cents, YMMV.
Thank youHad mine removed and replaced last year. The rigger used aluminum FWIW.
Good advice Rick. I have a friend who used to be a rigger say the same thingIt will be real obvious when you drill them out.
I'd lean towards stainless but maybe have both ready to reinstall.
Aluminum and Iron will still corrode to final Oxidation states.help prevent bimetal stainless/aluminum corrosion.
