Rigging Inboard End Of Spinnaker Pole

Looking for some suggestions on how to and where to position the 2 stoppers (cams) and cheek blocks on the mast when I rig up the inboard end of the spinnaker pole. The 8' track (1 1/4" - T) is already on the mast and is still have to add the upper + lower cheek block and stopper cams. Drill and screw or rivet?

Get a copy of Harkens catalog and you will see a proper set up. Both cheek blocks are on the STB side Just above and below the track for max. travel. The cams are generally at shoulder level. Below halyard exits.

And drill and tap is superior to rivets. There was a recent discussion on rivets and even with similar metals, i.e., aluminum rivets in aluminum masts, the aluminum rivets aren't very strong. Use Lanocote on the threads when you install the bolts.

There are tons of masts that used SS rivets which are far stronger than any drill and tap due to the thin wall nature of masts

AND there also very easy to remove without mast dammage and were the only item on my 30 year old that did come apart and go back without issue

Monel rivets are even superior to stainless rivets.

For ease of installation and removal possibility ... I just use slightly oversized aluminum 'hammer rivets' with stainless 'plungers', one good whack with a hammer is all that needs to 'set' the rivet, no special tools required.
