In PERCENT tension, all rigging is approximately the same for 'plain vanilla' applications ---12-15% tension for sailing in 'moderate' conditions. Correct wire tension is important as your sail 'shape' especially the jib/genoa depends on the wire tension; as a sailmaker for 'stock' sails cuts the jib/genoa *expecting* that wire tension to be close to that 12-15% value of tension.
