I am just acquiring a Pearson 31 and will be sailing it in the Apostle Islands and Lake Superior. In preparation, I'm looking at RIBs and outboards. I'm considering dingy davits to mount the RIB and wondering if others have experience with the size of RIB and motor and whether dingy davits are appropriate for this size boat. Jim

Hands down the new RIB's made by Defender are the absolute best value on the market. They are also made with real Hypalon.

Keep in mind that while davits are safe for calm weather sailing they are dangerous in rough weather and place tremendous loads on the pushpit and vessel. In rough weather our RIB, an 8'6" model, goes on deck. Most of the time we just tow the RIB and store it in the davits at the mooring..
