1982 Catalina 27. Mostly original wiring (including trailer hitch connectors for engine), but some work by POs. After reading a lot of postings here and there I've got a basic idea of what I want to do, but I'm trying to figure out wire sizes, fuse sizes, and what type fuses to use where.
Here's what I've got:
Universal 5411
2, 65AH, size 24 batteries
Statpower (Xantrex) TrueCharge 10TB 10A dual battery charger
Sunsei SE-500 (7.5 W, 0.5A), CC-10000 controller solar charger
1/2/B Battery switch
6 breaker DC panel, radio, stereo, GPS, lighting
#4 wire from battery to DC switch and to starter
#10 wire most everywhere else
My plan:
Wire the AC charger, alternator, and solar charger directly to battery 1. Add a Blue Sea ACR between battery 1 & 2.
Use the 1/2/B switch as is (following Maine Sail's discussions).
Rewire between engine and control panel.
Add solenoid at engine for glow plugs.
I'm thinking of putting a two post Blue Sea MRBF on battery 1: one post for the (#4?, 100A) wires to the DC switch, alternator, and ACR and one post for the (#10?, 60A) wires to the chargers. Battery 2 would have a one post MRBF for the (#4?, 100A) wires to the DC switch and ACR.
Does that seem reasonable?
