Retrofit Fuel Locker Partition in pre-85 C-22?

Anyone glass in some plywood on an older C22 around the tank... To make the gas tank sit in its own compartment, air tight? I got a 1971 and plan to sleep in it a lot.

I got a ton of west systems epoxy...Thought it might be good practice to get me into glassin'

I thought about it, and then decided to put the tank in the cockpit instead. We never found it to be in the way under the tiller. We used the fuel-tank space for a cockpit cooler.

I plan to do this to my boat. My outboard runs on propane. So it's important to isolate it and vent it overboard. I plan to box it out with bulkheads up to the settee lid and vent it through the transom. I'm also considering another locker lid on the port side forward cockpit. There's a lot of storage room down there. I think it'd be nice to access that from the cockpit for things like fenders & crab traps etc.

I have not got back to this idea yet... First year with the boat and I realized I have a lot of other projects that are more "relevant" at the moment.... for me right now. I do plan to tackle it in the future probably though.

I've been just keeping my external fuel tank, 3gal, under the tiller and I just cut a simple piece of very thin plywood to fit as a little roof for the ext tank. Its probably ~2 x 2.5 ' or something along these lines...Sorry I forget the width of the cockpit gap. Since it was thin and since I cut it snug, it sits inside, and rests on the cut-in/groove for the locker seat doors..... then I still close the locker seat doors/lids without it being in the way. Hold great and no screws or anything needed. Protects gas tank from rain and sun and also have room right next to it, under the "roof", for a pump spray tank which I can cool off and get simple showers or whatever I need some fresh water for. I can make a drawing or take a pic if you'd like.
