I just installed Yanmar 2GM20F in a 1980 Catalina 30 tall mast. I am not getting the speed that I feel I should. The prop is a 3 blade 12 in. With an 8 pitch. I had it re pitched a little with not much help. Should I get a larger dia
And if so how large? Anything else I should look at to get more speed. Are there any good web sights to go to figure out the proper pitch and dia?

Hi,
I don't know what size & pitch prop the Yanmar calls for. But, my '91 Cat30 with a Universal 25xp calls for a 3 blade, 13"x10 pitch prop. My top rpm's are about 3000 with a top speed, in calm wind and no current, at 6.5 knots. Normal cruising speed is 5.5 knots with good performance in fighting tides and/or wind. Since I only really use the engine to get in and out of my slip and occasionally when there is a dead calm, speed is not an issue. Close in maneuvering performance...is.

Good Luck and Happy Sailing.
