Last night, it was reported that this ship was trying to sail out of harms way headed south but sank off the coast of North Carolina. 14 crewmen were rescued by the Coast Guard. When asked for the Coast Guard crewman credited saving the lives to be on TV, he declined as the crew took the stance that it was their job. I am grateful to the United States Coast Guard for the valiant rescue plus the fact they are not taking any credit other than to say it was their job.
One crewman was found dead but the Captain of the Bounty is still missing. SAR will continue today off the coast of North Carolina. In the meantime, I ask for prayers to those affected by Hurricane Sandy for their saftey.
It hit me hard hearing this sad news as I have been on that boat before and have a jacket proudly bearing the name of HMS Bounty. My heart goes out for the dead crewman and missing Captain. Yes it is a sad day for me.
