If anyone has replaced their in-mast furling line how did you remove the large right hand cover plate. The one that forms one side of the slot that permits the line to wind up and down on the furling drum. US Spars instructions describes a configuration where four machine screws hold it on. I have four machine nuts installed. When removed the plate still won't come off. Any advice?

Main RF drum

I had a rigger replace mine. From what I understand from a friend who was at the marina while they worked on it. It took 3 guys over an hour to break it free from the galvanic corrosion. Their phone number is 281-334-7849 if you wanted to call them. I am sure they wouldn't mind giving you a few pointers. Good luck.

Works best with sail removed

http://home.att.net/~dragonflyb331/ I've removed mine on Dragonfly -- a 2003 B331. I first removed the sail, tied a light line to the bottom sail shackle, then pulled the in-haul line all the way out. This wound the line around the sail foil in the mast allowing me to easily wind the in-haul line back in after replacing it. Next, I removed the light aluminum strip on the port side. It had two machine screws holding it in place. I removed the two bolts at the bottom of the drum and only loosened the two at the top of the drum. I used a big screw driver to pry the bottom of the drum out from the mast. From there, I could reach the knot in the in-haul line with a pair of needle nose pliers. I pulled it out, cut off the knot, removed the old line, put in the new, tied a knot, and reversed the process. It took about 4 hours the fist time I did it...less than 30 minutes last spring. We replaced it before putting the sail on. Good luck. Feel free to contact me offline if you have questions. Mark
