My 1979 Catalina 27 still has gate valves instead of proper thru hulls and seacocks. How do I go about replacing them? I understand that the gate valves are attached to pipe stubs glassed into the hull. How do I remove them? Should I remove them or just glass over them and install seacocks in a new hole? Anybody with a primer on gate valve removal?
