It's time (per my wife) to install a new head in our 1978 Catalina 30. Current head is electric. Any thoughts on brands, hand pump vs electric is appreceiated. Brands and model #'s/ retailers to purchase from is appreciated! Thank you.

Be sure to check in with Peggie

Head (ha ha) on over to the Head Mistress forum & check it out with Peggie. She'll have some great suggestions and advice. LaDonna PS: I personally am a little wary of electric "stuff." I'd hate for it to break mid-flush! :)

Raritan PHII

When cruising on a friend's Little Harbor 44 (some things were literally gold-plated), I noticed that it had Raritan PHII heads installed. They come in both electric and manual configurations. I figured if it was good enought for Little Harbor, it was good enough for me. The next year I replaced the old OEM model with a new one, and have been very happy with it for the past 6 years. I was really pleased to see that Practical Sailor recently rated it as a best buy. Once every 4 or 5 years it needs a simple rebuild for the gaskets and valves. One of the best prices I've seen for this model is Defender. Good Luck!
