I’m considering getting a solar vent for hunter 38. I know a lot of people install them in their hatches but I’m not super keen on blocking the light like that. I’ve got two thoughts- I could either replace my existing scoop on my dorade in front of the companionway slider with the vent or put it in the cabin top of the head.
I like the dorade because it’s out of the way and not likely to be caught on anything. It also wouldn’t allow water intrusion. I’m just not sure how effective it would be since it’s my only real source of ventilation right now.
If I put it in the cabin top in the head I’d ideally put it under the dodger all the forward under the eisenglass so it would still get the sun. I know this is less than ideal but I don’t want to interrupt the cabin top forward of the dodgerbecause it’s a good place for the dingy and moving around on deck to get to the mast.
I’m really unsure of what the best direction is to go here. Any thoughts, advice, or info on your install is appreciated.
