This could be fun; lots of overnight destinations around Tampa Bay, but cold fronts can still come through in March. There are other charter companies as well around Tampa Bay.My son and I would like to rent a sailboat, in a warm location, for March. All charter companies have boats 38' plus, too large for just 2 people. Ideas? I was thinking of FL keys area. 26'-30' with hot/cold pressure water is ideal.
Yeah, sailing in and around Pine Island Sound near CH is also very nice.Try http://www.swfyachts.com. The Charlotte Harbor area of SW Florida has great cruising grounds. Although only about 125 miles south of where I am in Tarpon Springs, much more tropical. Lots of places to gunkhole, restaurants, resorts with marinas, etc. Protected, however shallow in places. Short sail out to the gulf. A twenty-four hour sail to Key West. As KG wrote, cold fronts do come through in March which can make for some great sailing as long as you aren't trying to battle your way north in the open gulf. Good luck.
