Considering that there is no electricity, I would wait until it warms up and you can get some electricty.

Once you have electricity you have the option of using an "Eraser" or a heatgun/hair dryer.

The "Eraser" would actually work on a battery operated drill, but I don't know power to get everyone off.

I catch your sarcasm Jack, and indeed appriciate it. Yes indeed Dog, real bad luck would be the Jenny Craig cheer leading team boarding your boat throwing all their clothes over and sinking it. Leaving you with that image in your mind as you die.
I am not in an uproar or anything like that over it. But there is right and there is wrong, no in between. It reminds me of Shadrach not bowing down to worship the image Nebuchanezzar had built. Even though every one was doing it.
To some they would rather not take a chance on getting bad luck, so they do the ceramony. To me I would rather not do the ceramony in Posidon's name because I don't believe he's the one watching me while I am on the water.
This seems to be creeping toward a religious discussion, so I will post one last thing about this in this forum. If anyone would like to discuss it further, just tell me which place to go on SBO.
The whole truth of it is. I probably believe in Posidon more than any one else here. I believe there is a spiritual being that is Posidon. However I thinik this being is a demon or demons posing as a god, as with all other false gods. When you put your self under his/their authority, then you are subject to him. At least that is the way I understand it according to the bible. I have probably devoted more time to study religions and the bible more than any one subject. I didn't even believe there was a god until I was 19.
Someone told me the bible was the best selling book ever, and I wondered why.

I believe that the commandment is: You shall have no other gods before me.
It doesn't exclude traditional gods and lesser gods. The earth mother and father time are all with us. It just says GOD first and then the other gods may be regarded for the sake of tradition along with the tooth fairy, the easter bunny, Linus' great pumpkin, and santa claus.
This is a boating forum and the myths and traditions of the sea are a part of it.

Ross- Some people believe the bible IS truth. Others think you must take the bible and the traditions of men to arrive at 'truth', such as catholics. You can't serve two masters. Apparently you think you can as long as you serve them one at a time.
Next time you go to church, ask for a blessing in the name of Zeus. Then when people look offended, say "What! I didn't say in the name of Zeus AND Jesus at the same time."
If they still looked offended just tell them you are a sailor, and that's just part of it.

Hermit, I presume that you're envising the before team, not the after team, or maybe you're thinking of the after view.
Anyway, given the annual blessing of the (fishing) fleet in various locations around the country, I would presume that there is an acceptable rite or ritual for you should you need it. Go in peace my son, and sail a lot more.

I believe that the Scripture forum is called the War Room and discussion of deities belongs over there.
Some folks just don't believe in a lot of old words and choose to choose to defer to Poseidon or Neptune, Aeolus or even older gods (granted, without much conviction, ceremony or flourish. What makes one more believable then the other (your answer belongs on the other forum and not here.))?

Caleb, as long as you don't call yourself a Christian, I won't ask you to explain why you worship other gods. And yes the Bible says you are with Him or against Him, I actually think that is where the words first came from.

No offense intended. I respect people who have strong feelings in their beliefs and I should not be the one to belittle anyone who believes in creationism, the Bible etc. I may perhaps disagree but the place for discussing these issues is in the 'War Room' rather then the more straight ahead sailing discussions. You will find some friends there as well as protagonists.
I feel that all the optimism about O'Bama versus Busch is less settling. Sometimes I wish I believed that everything would really work out alright. I just keep hoping.

Sailing and God

If you want to feel really close to God go sailing on a clear night with 12 knots of wind on a broad reach with a full moon. You will have a new perspective on religion following this experience.
I still recall leaving Noank Ct about 4:00 in the afternoon in my Catalina 25 and pulling into Newport, RI harbour about 2:30 am. These were the conditions the whole way. One of the greatest sails of my life and i thank God for this experience.

To remove vinyl letters - using a razor blade/scraper, approach the edge of the letter at a 10 degree angle to the surface with the corner of the blade. Lift the edge of the vinyl letter and try to pull with your thumb and index finger. If it takes a few square inches or more away, keep repeating. If it breaks off right away you have a lot of scraping to do. I use styrene to remove the glue. Dab the styrene onto the old glue, shave the glue with the razor blade/scraper, repeat.
