Removing old fuel from my tanks

I agree with the other comments already made about using the same fuel line going to the engine and just disconnecting the primer bulb to evacuate all the fuel from the tank. I have a permanent 12 gl tank setup under the cockpit and it took me once about 15 minutes to empty out. I try to maintain the tank full all the time to prevent moisture buildup,, occasionally i'll top off the tank and it helps maintains the fuel fresh and I have not had a problem with my carburetor. However I do go out often about four outings/month so understandably the engine does gets used often and the run time averaging around 2 hours per trip. I feel that adding other permanent fixtures and hardware to remove the fuel would just add potential leaks or failure points in the future. My two cents,,i try to just KISS and not over engineer.

A follow on question: Once you get the gas out (which for small outboards has been mixed with oil), what to you do with it.......i.e. how to properly dispose of old/contaminated gas?
It is a PITA on Long Island and the local fuel polish guy did me a solid on doing the right thing with 15 gallons
Run it in your lawnmower or chain saw. If you mix the 50 to 1 gas with normal gas to further dilute it it will burn fine in your lawnmower, might smoke a bit but at say 100 to 1 mix it will run OK. I've done this so I have actual experience.
Give it to someone who burns a lot of gas in his power boat. If it is run through a filter and diluted with about 60 gallons of gas the skipper will be happy for the free gas. I emptied about 25 gallons of diesel this year and gave it to the scuba charter guy who burns a lot of fuel each week. He added 5 gallons at a time after polishing it and was very happy to get about a hundred bucks worth of free fuel.

Oh... sorry. Spoke with the Yamaha guys and they said as long as the gas did not smell like lacquer, the gas is fine and will not harm the motor. So I put in some Stay Bil and added about 10 more gallons. Everything is running fine.

You're just pumping 10 gallons? A length of plastic hose from HomeDepot. Put the primer bulb from your supply line in it to get the fuel flowing and let gravity do the rest. Be sure the business ends are secured to the tanks. It's gasoline so a few drops on the dock isn't a problem, not like diesel. Should have seen the dubbas at the marina I stopped in over the summer sling the gas. If gasoline were that much of a problem, boats wouldn't be allowed on most of the nations reservoirs.
