I have a 76 Catalina with an Atomic 4 which I purchased last summer. There is a slight gas/oil smell in the boat. My wife is fairly sensitive to hydrocarbon smells. Does anyone know how to get rid of these? Has anyone tried say an sack of activated carbon to absorb odours?? Don

try Febreeze....

my teenage daughter used it to eliminate the cigarette smoke odors in her car caused by her smoking friends. I used it on my boat and it worked great. You can buy it at any grocery store in the detergents section. Comes in a spray bottle. Hope this helps.

Febreeze removing oil/gas smell

How did you use the Febreeze? Spray it over everything? Cushions, carpet, etc, etc, or just in the engine compartment? My wife is a bit sensetive to the smell, too. Thanks!!

Check for the source of the problem + Ventilate

You might want to track down the source of the odor. Putting in new fuel lines may help. Plus, improving your ventilation can help. Run your blower for a while after shutting down your engine. Check your exhaust piping-- If it's never been replaced it may be overdue.
