I'm planning to repair my mast tang plates myself. So please let me know whether I'm going about removing the tang correctly or not.
Mast has struts supporting at coach roof. Mains, sailbag and Jib taken off.
1. Remove struts
2. Slacken shrouds till pre-bend releases.
3. Adjust strut length fit to support mast.
4. Remove shroud from tangs.
5. Tie rope to shroud and lead thru midship cleat and to winches.
6. Tighten winches to give some support tension to shrouds.
7. Adjust struts accordingly for additional mast support.
8. Remove mast tang for repair.

Any comment on above?
Thanks in advance.

I don't think you need to release the prebend as they are attached to the base of the mast not to the chainplates. I have a H34 and I would use the halyards (2 foreward and 2 aft to support the mast while you fix the plates. I've actually done this.

Planning to use Sikaflex 295UV for bedding between mast tang and hull when bolting the tang plates. Any other suggesting on bedding use?
Thanks in advance.

Planning to"slice" through the mast tang bedding with a steel wire. Should i use guitar string or fine SS wire?

Got the Mast Tangs out. Not difficult. Can't slice so just use a heavy hammer and a block of wood and it came out easily. Will use butyl tape in the refit but first need to weld new stud bolt. The other 3 stud bolts seems ok.
