I'm attempting to remove the grab handle and the teak trim on the inside of the companionway, starboard side, on my 9.2A. I want to run some wiring for a digital engine temp gauge (http://www.fullwavemarine.com/tempgauge.html) and, eventually, some cable for cockpit speakers. I can't get to one screw under the grab handle. I thought I'd remove the handle, but couldn't find any plugs to knock out. I looked on the outside of the companionway, but didn't see any screw heads that corresponded to the thicker part of the handle. Well, I didn't see any screw heads, period.

Am I missing something, or do I need to try an offset screwdriver on that remaining screw?

Thanks.

John....if memory serves right i had the same problem when dismanteling mine...the best i can remember i think i ended up prying it off ...knowing that i was changing mine from single loop grabs to double loop grabs...but for some reason in the back of my mind i am thinking that there is a plug i missed...you may want to sand the surface and see if the plug is there...hope this helps...

Thanks, Woody. You're a help, as always.

I'm going to try the offset screwdriver first, to see if it'll come loose at that point. If not, I'll try sanding a bit to see if a plug shows up.

If I don't come across the dimensions shortly, I'll take them again. It is one heavy SOB. Don't think I'd want to be around it if the boat turned turtle!
