I'm replacing original engine compartment soundproofing (foam with mylar sealant) from 2000 Ben 3.61 and having difficulty removing residual adhesive after getting the old foam insulation off with razor scraper. Any recommendation for adhesive removal product that really works? Unsuccessful attempts so far included DeBond Corp Marine Formula and 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner 08984. Admittedly, these were done in pretty cool temps, but neither cut the old adhesive very well. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks, Pinch

Good luck.

If you're going to replace the insulation, perhaps a complete removal may not be necessary?

Original too deteriorated to leave on - new wouldn't adhere. Pinch

hush mat works great and you do not have to remove the old glue, it will go over everything. it is for car and not cheap, but not hearing the engine of a sailboat is priceless

Acetone will dissolve the old glue very quickly, but be sure to have plenty of ventilation.

Thanks to all for comments. Contacted Soundown folks who sent helpful instructions AND indicated there was no need to remove all prior glue, as long as no loose foam material remained. So I'm taking their advice and pressing on. Will post results later. Pinch
