My 1995 Beneteau Moorings 405 came with a 2 burner gimballed Force 10 range, with oven and broiler. It works pretty well, except for a few little things. Both the burners are a little too hot -- it's hard not to burn the rice. I'm going to try a flame diffuser for this problem. After using the oven, I discovered the thermometer was not registering correctly, so I got one to put inside the oven. Once the oven is preheated, I turn the flame down. I can keep it at 450 degrees okay, but when I reduce the flame just a little bit, it drops down to 300 degrees. Most things I want to bake need the 350-400 range, which is exactly the one I can't hold. If I turn up the flame, I burn the bottoms of things. I put some tiles in the oven and this helps a little, but the oven is very small, and I can't find a baking stone that will fit. Any suggestions? I'm wondering if the oven insulation needs to be improved. Also, the only time I used the broiler, the flame went out and would not stay lit. Is there anything I should know? The starter seems to be long gone, so I just use a butane fire starter. What can I do to rejuvenate my stove?
