How old is the engine?

There is not much difference on new, but rebuilding makes sense.

Rebuilding is easy. You'll need new Oil seal. Depending on condition, you may need new shaft, Bearings, C-clips, and O-rings. After rebuild, you shouldn't tighten the CW Pump belt too much, infact leave alittle loose but not slipping. Too tight and the shaft will wear the oil seal one sided and will leak again soon enough.

I would be surprised if the problem is the pump.

Yes it is not had to replace the rubber seals on pump. This I believe is the most common for seal to start leaking when to much belt tension is used.

Here are some pictures of when I fixed mine. It shows the seal in question. The rubber "O" ring is what I used to help tighten the seal around the shaft. Inside the seal is a spring. I stretched the "O" ring over the spring. Made it good for a few more miles. I found a over priced replacement seal from the local Yanmar dealer. Have it saved for when I really need it. I have not done the speed seal plate yet but plan to when I get the bracket that will allow the pump to face the correct direction. Which should have been caught at the yanmar factory.
One of the pictures has a red oval around the location of seal that is were I bet is were your leak should be happening around the shaft.
The picture with the red box show were the seal gets pressed into place. Sorry I had already pulled the seal out before picture. But you will see it when you remove yours. Hint take...Take cell phone pictures as you go. You will find it is not that hard to fix, just basic skills needed.
