Has anyone routed their mainsail halyard to the cockpit and how well did it work. Pictures and list of materials would be most appreciated.

I did this on my O'Day 25. I used a mast step halyard plate with block attached, a block tied to the handrail (deck organizer turning block is more commonly used) and a clutch. I would tie my sail to the boom using a half knot with an extra turn. This allowed me to pull the sail up from the cockpit as these knots release fairly easy. It wasn't 100% perfect but it worked most of the time. Can you post some pics of your mast base and cabin top?

Here's an example setup from a random boat:

Thanks, the 28 is a keel stepped mast so the plate is a no go. Also on the later 28's the traveler was moved to the cabin top so the routing of the sheet is very limited. Was hoping to hear from someone with this specific boat and how they did the project.
