Peggy, What do you think of the Raritan TWK (Toilet Water Kit). It's about $50 so it's not a trivial addition. I have a Raritan PHII manual head and I am going through the steps the remove the odder. I have been reading your library, you have a lot of great tips and info, thanks! Would you recommend that I install the TWK as part of my attacking the head odor problem campaign or would you recommend me going through the other steps you recommend first and then if I still have an odor problem getting the TWK? Also another question regarding the inlet water smell. You recommended in one of your library articles installing a common automobile type radiator flush valve to use to put fresh water into the intake hose and toilet. I am a little concerned about installing an automobile part into the salt water system. It would seem to me that the salt water would make short work of the radiator flush valve in no time. Can you allay my fears? Do you know of someone who has installed the automobile type value for a salt water boat? How long did it last? Thanks again for all your help.

Is tee a sink drain into your head intake out of

question? 'Cuz that would be simplest--and certainly the least expensive--solution. As for whether to install the TWK to cure intake odor problems--or ANY odor problems--that depends upon what problems you're trying to solve and how you think the TWK will solve them.

Sink drain solution not practical.

Peggie, Yes, unfortunately I don't think the sink drain solution is practical. The head sink on my boat drains to it's own through hull which is on the side of the boat opposite the head intake through hull. So it would take a bit a plumbing.

In that case, the simplest solution for you

May be nothing more than a y-valve in the head intake line, with a piece of hose coming off one side long enough to stick in a bucket of fresh water. As for your question about the durability of radiator flush valves on a boat, it'll last as long as it would on your car in a salt air environment.
