We just bought a radar for our 25' O'day. Has anyone else put a radar on their boat and where did you mount it. Mast or stern pole or on the back stay. Any info as to how to do this will be apreciated. thanks, Rachel

Stern mount - why the turnbuckle?
Have a 27 O'Day : PO had mounted scanner on the mast, which I removed anticipating building a stern mount similar to yours. Thought the mast mount was inaccessable for servicing, vunerable to damage when stepping/removing the mast and while mast is stored off-season and also thought the weight of the scanner 20 ft above the WL may contribute to the boat pitching. Since the mast mounting was fixed and the radar functioned , what is the anticipated benefit of the turnbuckle on the stern mount? Do you propose to use it to make the scanner horizontal to compensate for heeling when sailing? Tony

Yes, on those long tacks accross Lake Superior with a steady wind through the fog, I thought it might be nice to have the option to level out the dome. I don't forsee using it all of the time but I like the idea of tweaking it when needed. Check out the "Ask All Sailors" forum, there's a recent tread about radar that I've expanded upon this as well as posted a link to more photos.
