Stern mount - why the turnbuckle?
Have a 27 O'Day : PO had mounted scanner on the mast, which I removed anticipating building a stern mount similar to yours. Thought the mast mount was inaccessable for servicing, vunerable to damage when stepping/removing the mast and while mast is stored off-season and also thought the weight of the scanner 20 ft above the WL may contribute to the boat pitching.Since the mast mounting was fixed and the radar functioned , what is the anticipated benefit of the turnbuckle on the stern mount? Do you propose to use it to make the scanner horizontal to compensate for heeling when sailing?Tony
