Similar to another thread below, I recently replaced the primary fuel/water separator (which was really just a wide spot in the line for the water to drop out without any sort of filer) with a Racor 120 with a 10 micron filter. Now the engine maxes out at 2500 RPMs whereas before the max was closer to 3300-3500. I have a 28 HP Volvo Penta on my 34' Beneteau. At the same time I added the Racor I changed the filter on the engine, but the kept the same size, 2 microns, as before. Is it possibe that my Racor is too small and I should go up a size? I can't seem to find sizing recommendations anywhere except the GPH on the Racor specification chart and the 15 gph on the Racor 120 seems more than adequate.
