I took delivery of my 310 last June and sailed her in Dallas Race week with good results for only having the boat for a few weeks (Took 3rd in Main and Jib). What I am looking for is advice from anyone racing their 310-tips-tricks etc. Rigging setup, main sheet-traveler set up. Also let me know if you race, how well you've done so far. Thanks! Racing a 310

We race on Lake Mead in Nevada. Just took first place in our Fall Series. The winds seem to predict how we do. Light (anything below 5 knots) is tough. Make sure that your rigging is tuned for properly. The boat is head sail driven, so that is the most important sail to watch. The key, I think to winnning is races, though, is to have a consistant crew that knows the boat. We have been disappointed in her down wind performance, even with a spinnaker. Fall off for speed on the windward leg. She doesn't point well. And, remember she is a cruising boat, not a racer. When you losing, you know at least, you will always have cold beer! Good Luck

Thanks David

David, Thanks for the reply. I have found the same although I do not have my spinaker rigged yet. What PHRF were you using-I am assigned 180 which seems fair. A good friend of mine has a Hunter 31 and does very well-very experienced and consistant crew-that boat points like a son of a gun-(Back swept spreaders allows jib to be pulled in real tight) I really would like to beat him at least once this year-but like you said-the Beer is always cold. I have not been disappointed in this yacht. Send me a link to a website or some pics and I'll post them on my 310 website. Fair winds and Following seas for 2005 Ken S/V "Juliet" #282

Your Welcome!

Ken, You can go to Nevada Yacht club and find at least one picture, of Dancing Shoes, our 310. We race at a 189 PHRF handicapp. We get 6 seconds for the 3 blade prop, and another 3 seconds for roller furling. We use an aysmeterical spinnaker for light air, and are assigned to Spinnaker B class, for any boat with a 150 handicapp of higher. I love the boat and spend at least one night of the weekend on her even in the winter. Good luck. David
