Hi Nico, are you out there?? I was wondering if by chance you know the specs/model/whatever of that beautiful masterpiece prop you had on Journeyman. I'm on the fence as to whether to go that route or just get an "infallible" three-blade 12x9RH like most folks go with.Thanks in advance for your knowledge!- Gene Neill

FYI, I'm just about to install a replacement 13x10 for my MkI Vega with Yanmar 1GM10. The previous 13x10 three blade succumbed to decinfication after 20 years.Alisdair

I really don’t know the prop specs, except that it is a Maxprop 3 blade. The prior owner installed it. It was a very reliable, robust installation, trouble free. I was careful about zincs and annual lubrication. We put one on our new boat. I would think a good prop shop could fit one to a Vega. The prop is adjustable, so if pitch is a bit off that should be fixable.

Hi Gene,I am repowering my series III Vega with a Beta 14 (10 KW power) with transmission Technodrive TMP 40P (reduction 2:1).I visited recently the Max-Prop factory in Milano as I live 2 hours drive from there. For the my Vega and based on the engine and transmission, they recommend the 13 inches prop (33 cm). The pitch is adjustable and they suggested 20°.I want to keep the ability to replace the Max-Prop with a 12x9 fixed blades myself in case the Max-Prop gets damaged. For this reason they suggested me the "easy" model that can accept a longer threaded end of the shaft (for a standard nut, required for the standard prop).This prop is heavier than the standard ones so my mechanic has suggested to keep the shaft length between the rear bearing and the prop hub as short as possible. That's very exciting, Marco! I wish I lived in Italy, so I could come see your Vega! She certainly bears a grand name. :)I too am repowering a Series III Vega (#3360) with the exact same engine and transmission that you are using. Are you doing the work yourself, or are you having it done by a professional? I'm getting ready to start removing the old MD7a, although I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. LOL

Side note: MaxProp claims their props will increase forward speed by FIFTEEN PERCENT, can this possibly be true?

i also have the max prop and their recomendation was correct. if your prop is correct, iirc, you hit max throttle-max rpm and no more? something like that.when i first bought my vega, i could only get like 1500 rpm with black smoke. 3-4 knots in flat water.Sent from my iPhone
