I should say, 911 help lol.

Can anyone tell me, if you put a felt mark on your centre board lifting line, how far does the line travel for the CB to go down? I’m guessing 10 to 12 inches. I don’t think it’s too much.

What problem are you trying to solve? Are you wondering how long the lift line needs to be?

Sadly, I have already received the new lines and installed it. I obtained the length from the manual and I did half a** job of measuring it myself prior to ordering. It’s too short. If I knew exactly how far it moved I can decide what to do.

Thanks

I replaced the entire lift line on a 26. And did a step-by-step right up with photos if you think it would be helpful I’ll post it. I don’t remember how long the line was. I guess I would get more than you think you need and then cut it back to the right size when you’re done

I appreciate that. Lift line is replaced, I referred to your write up, thanks.

I just need to know how far the line travels when the CB goes down. :)

I’m not sure that we fully understand what you’re trying to do. You wanna know how long the line is? But you said you made it too short already seems like you ought to be able to just take a tape measure and see how much more in line you need bring it back to the end of the rope clutch add a foot and you’re done.

If it’s something else that you’re trying to do then we don’t fully understand your question

I think I may have thought of an idea that will help. I found the blue print drawing of the bracket. I’m going to make one out of cardboard. I can determine the distance the line moves by mocking one up.

If one was to put a piece of tape on their lifting line, another one on the deck directly by the one on the line, lower the centre board, and tell me the distance the tape on the line moved forward from the tape on the deck, I would have my answer. I’m guessing 10-12 inches.

I should be ok.

Maybe we are not talking about the same thing. You are talking about the lift-line... right?

What you propose seems like a lot of work and expense for something that can be adjusted after the fact. Why not just go a little long and then cut it back once you have it installed? The small amount of line you would be "wasting" seems trivial to the expense and effort of what you propose. YMMV

measured my 260 today which should be similar. It is 11” from fully up to down.
Not sure how you could lengthen an existing line in this location that wouldn’t require dropping the centreboard anyway - at which point just replace the line allowing extra length.

Thank you @twalker H260, that saved me a fair amount of effort. Confirming this measurement for me, I now know where I can safely attach the cascade line (?) without replacing what I have already done. This weekend, we sail the 240.

FYI: in another thread Crazy Dave told me my line was too short, he was right. ☺ I did however follow what I thought was written in the 240 manual. If and hopefully maybe one day I have to replace the lifting line again, I would order 30’ of 10mm and use accordingly as already suggested.

Thanks again
