Yes. Also, consider the use of premium ethanol-free gas. I've been using it in my small equipment for the past four years. No problems with Carburetor or fuel hose leaks.

That's the ultimate solution, but there just isn't any commonly available in my area so I soldier on with the pump gas.

While we rarely get a choice of octane at fuel docks, running higher than needed can lead to unburned fuel in some engines which may lead to a build up of carbon, gunk, etc
