I am coming very close to purchasing a 2008 45CC that has never been commissioned. The dealer has been sitting on it, floor planning it since Hunter sent it to them. Are there any special issues with the 45CC I need to be concerned with or check on? I would also like to hear any personal feelings pro or con the 45CC.

Thanks Scott. I checked out the hunter site and read the reviews. I hope to hear from a few owners or folks who have had sailing opportunities on a H45CC. As well as knowledgable people such as yourself who can steer me in the right direction to get information.

Gatch 30,

We have a Hunter 45 CC, purchased new in 2006. It is our third sailboat and our second center cockpit. Basically we love the boat. We have added some equipment that we did not specify when we purchased the boat. Thus far we have added an 8Kw Fischer Panda genertaor, an HRO watermaker, ICOM SSB radio, and a custom stainless steel arch over the transom, with davits for lifting the inflatable, three 135-watt solar panels mounted on the top, along with room for all of the GPS, SSB, and VHF antennas for the additional electronics that we have added.

As for issues, all new boats have them. Luckily most of ours were minor, and the dealer from whom we bought the boat was very receptive to our needs and fixed them all. The biggest problem that we had were the electrical relays that Hunter designed into both the 120-volt AC panel, and the 12-volt DC panel. After 2 years of fighting this, we replaced these two panels with one new Blue Sea AC / DC pynel, with all circuit breakers, and no relays. We also added a Blue Sea rotary selection switch that allows us to switch between, Shore Power, Generator Power, or Inverter Power. This was a BIG improvement over the original design.

With the exception of the electrical panels, I think Hunter did a GREAT job on the boat. 2006 was the first year that this boat was produced, so like any manufacturer I am sure that Hunter has made improvements to the later model 45 CC's.

If you want more information, or to talk to me, go ahead and IM me through the web site, and I'll give you my email adress, and cell phone number.

Best of luck with your new boat

Jeff

I also have a 06 45cc which I have owned for 6 years. I have also added all of the options that Jeff has and experienced the same electrical problem he has. I unfortunately have had numerous problems with most of the ancillary equipment. Not hunters fault. Could be because we live on the boat and use everything all the time. I have posted many upgrades. The only real problem I think we all share other then electrical is the anchor locker. We have to flake the chain with the boat hook to keep it from piling up

Thanks for the information. From this site and other information I've been able to find, it sounds like the switches and relays are a common problem. I wonder how long Hunter went before they corrected this problem.

I am not sure that Hunter HAS corrested the problem. If you are looking at a 2008 model year, chances are that it has the same panel set-up. There are a lot of 45 CC's out there, and not everyone has had the problems with the panels / relays. Is the boat that you are looking at on the hard, or is it in the water. Hard to believe that it was never sold in 5 years.

Let me know if you need any more information on the boat.

Jeff
