Mark, You though I did not take YOU serious, right? Well, I did and I told you how easy it was to get plenty of links to the hundreds of prior guns

Henk, you know, all you have to do is....

Henk, From the number of post about this article, there seems to be alot of interest, and whether or not this is an old subject, so what, it was posted, and it got many responses.. esp. from you. So, Happy Holidays and just don't read it if its going to sink your boat!

Guns and Customs, Bahamas

This is mainly an amusing anecdote. In 1989, while cruising in the Bahamas, I had to clear customs at Great Harbor Cay. When I declared my firearms, the Customs Official asked me how many bullets I had onboard. When I said "about 100 rounds," he said he needed to know the exact number and sent me back onboard to count them. But he didn't accompany me; he stayed in his office. So I could have given him any number and he would not have known whether I was telling the truth or not. I've always wondered about the logic of that.

Nick from San Diego.

I just read that Sir Blake did shoot first, in which case the robbers returned fire. And You are right.....They should hang these kinds of pirates. But I also read that in that area the pirates typically are there to steal whatever they can and that there have been other gunpoint burglaries that occured nearby but without anyone being murdered....:-(

Derringer

I have a 4-10/44cal. derringer. It is about 4" long. I carry both types of shells for it. Have never used it and I hope I never have to. Am quite prepared to, however. Had lots of training and that is very important. N

US Waters

I am a gun owner, that said, does anyone actually think there is a need to carry a weapon in US waters? I personally don't think so, but that's me. I'll call the coasties... As for world cruising, I like the stainless mosberg pump idea. The derringer could be hidden better though. It is my hope that nobody in this list should ever need a weapon while cruising. That comes from a gun owning conservitive. Best Regards, Chris

gun idea

Its better to have a weapon and NEVER need it, than to need a weapon and not have access to one...How would you like to be at the mercy of intruders on your boat while your wife and kids look to you for safety..Not a pretty thought.I really don't like the idea of having to possess a weapon but the alternative is worse...........
