Hi all,

Does anyone have the stats on the standard 3 blade propeller used on the production 310 using the 25 hp Universal engine?

Specifically:
Bore size
Side (left hand or right hand)
Diameter
Pitch

Thanks

From the marine survey on the 2005 C-310 I purchased in July 2015:

Prop Shaft: 1" dia
Prop: 3-blade bonze alloy, fixed blades
Measured Dia: 16"
Pitch: 9"

Manual says it is equipped with a a 15x9

Mine came new with the 15x9 in 2001. Later changed to 15x9 flexofold and got rid of the prop walk.

15 x 11 on mine. May be a little over-propped but I can do 3100RPM WOT; but smokes pretty quickly thereafter.
Cruise @ 2300-2500 so it's no big deal. With the 1100RPM idle it does make for a pretty good clip in harbour though.

Love Flex-O-Fold
Best investment I ever made.

Not to hijack the thread, but ...

anyone used that Kiwi prop? I kind of really dig the idea of the lightweight blades and the fact it feathers and it really simple, but the reviews are not so good. Would like to hear if anyone in our fleet has used on.

Rummalade, 2003 C-310, now residing in Tampa has a three blade one. The boat used to live in Bluewater Bay in the slip I currently occupy. The PO said he really like it.

I know this is an old thread, but I am replacing the 2 blade 15x10 stock "sailor" type prop on my 2007 C-310 with a three blade for extra bite. Trying to decide between a 15x10 Sailor or 15x10 MP style.
Thoughts?

:plus:For the Campbell Sailor. Talk with Kelsey. tell him about your boat, your motor and what you are looking to gain. he was extremely helpful with my new prop. Love it.

Rummerful is back with the PO in the Niceville/Bluewater Bay Area and we still have the Kiwi...I love it, a bit more trouble to keep clean then the fixed prop but the speed gain and backing are worth it.

Older thread here but indicates what I was told by Catalina which is that the standard factory issue prop for the 310 is a 15" 3 blade. Wondering what the tip clearance between prop and hull is for the many Catalina 310 owners who have 15" props? The diver who installed mine said that my clearance is minimal, like 1/4" at the most. Wouldn't that be the case for all 310's with 15" props? Thanks for your feedback on this.

That is an interesting question. If every 310 was built exactly the same, no modifications occurred at the hands of dealers or owners, and no changes due to use occurred, then yes, perhaps.

But the issue is not “aren’t all 310’s alike” but what is needed for your 310 to be properly powered.

You might ask what could be affecting your 310? My conjecture falls in a couple of areas.
  • The length of your shaft
  • The length of your strut
  • The size of your shaft
  • The measure of the gap by your diver
Pulling your boat for a short hang to measure for yourself would address most of these questions. On the other hand it is your boat and you can decide it is a non issue.

Just got my answer from Warren Pandy at Catalina. After my boat they most likely increased the engine size, lengthened the shaft and moved the strut back a few inches for more clearance. He said there might be cavitation and/or vibration but no damage. So I plan to run the new prop more and confirm initial results which were excellent. If any problems I can go to a 14" prop and solve it. Hull #1 strikes again!
