last weekend i dove down to look at the bottom of my boat a Catalina 27 1972 i grabbed the propeller strut and found that i could move it side to side when i bought the boat 2 years ago first thing i did was have it hauled and the bottom painted and the yard discovered the srut was loose then even more then now they fixed it by grinding out material and then refilling it with epoxy well aparently this fix is not sufficient what would be a long lasting fix to this problem you would think that a glassed in strut isn't that secure could using the boat in this condition cause serious damage? thank you

Glassed in strut

I had a 1981 C30 which I sold last year. To get the boat ready for the sale, I had it hauled. I also had a loose strut. I called the factory, and since a sale was pending, I got through immediately to Frank Butler. After apologizing, he told me to fix it in the same manner that you had your repair done and told me it would last another 20 years. If this is your first experience with a Catalina boat, I urge you to always call the factory when you have a significant problem, regardless of the age of your boat. I'm on my 5th Catalina, and the reason I've stayed with them is because they are support their product. By the way, I thought the C27 was the best sailing boat I ever owned.
