Will the rubbing compound the WM sells work for this or do I need something else? If there's a particular compound that I need where can I find it in central Maryland?

Just a trick I saw at a marina long ago, Tie a shock cord to your polisher and tie the other end to a halyard or lifeline so that the weight is taken by the bungee. Adjust as necessary. You just need to pull down to polish, takes the strain off your arms.

If you want the kind of results shown in this and other threads, follow Main Sail's article on buffing and polishing and use the compounds and polishes he recommends. The 3M products are available in most auto stores or from on line sites.
I'm not sure if WM sells the 3M compound and polish recommended.
