port holes

new here.thanks, have bought my first sailboat, 1981 27 ft sloop 4 ft 3inches draft. port holes leaking, kind of old ,should repair or replace ? if repair how? ty if replace how much and were 2 get them also the little white twist screw tightners are comming off how do i re thread them

If they are not broken, you can replace the knobs. The SBO store sells them. The old ones had a metal insert. You may need to use vice grips to remove them. The new ones will NOT have the insert and can be easily replaced.

use glue?

I tried glue, this and it works for a while. Ended up purchasing new ones.

Here is the store page with the portlights and parts: http://shop.hunterowners.com/category.htm?cat=2005 . The problem with all portlight leaks is there can be multiple causes. If your dogs won't tighten that is one issue. Then there are the old, rotten rubber gaskets. Those can also be replaced. The seal between the portlight frame and the fiberglas can leak, especially if there is water in the core. So you really need to know the reason.

By the way, your portlights are the Grays unless upgraded by a previous owner.
