Just purchased a Hunter 25.5 1984 from a broker in Arizona. It's now home in Kansas City but I can't find out how the pop top is supposed to stay up once it's lifted. Are there poles or braces that hold it up? Does anyone have a picture of what I should look for.

The previous owners left "everything" on board when they left the state. Cups, silverware, sleeping bags, A/C unit, portable heater, etc. Not sure as we went through it all if we're overlooking it or what.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

There are two stainless steel legs that are in the outside groves of the fiberglass hatch. When you lift this hatch you should see them and be able to pull them forward to support the hatch.

Dave thanks so much for the information and super fast response. The picture was an added bonus and much appreciated.

I always try searches first but it's hard to be specific to a 25.5 as the search engine says it's too broad a cut.

This information is much appreciated and we'll give her a shot this weekend. We even found a cover with screen and windows that goes on the pop top once it's up. Still finding stuff the previous owners left on board.

Thanks again.

Inside the cabin there are 4 hold down bolts. One in each corner of the cabin top. Unscrew these fully out. Grab the cabin top just ahead of the slide hatch with one hand and in the middle of the pop-top with the other. The pop-top weighs 80+ pounds, so push hard. The top lifts up and swings forward to the mast.

There is a hook with a thumb screw that slides along the channel in the back of the mast. Before raising the top, move the hook to the bottom of the channel. Once the top is raised you slide the hook up to catch the forward lip of the pop-top. Snug down the thumb screw to secure the top in the up position. Hold the pop-top up until that hook is secured. The top will come down real fast!

At the dock, We generally put a boom tent over the pop-top to keep the sun out of the cabin.

I don't have a picture of the hook that secures the pop-top, but I can take one if you need it the next time I'm at our boat.

LOL. I remember seeing that hook stay on the mast when I was working on the mast ground wire. Wondered what it was since it was a little odd compared to the regular sail slide stop above it.

Makes complete sense now that you mention it.

Thanks all for your help.
