After a wonderful morning sail out to Sand Island yesterday (Saturday), one of the small islands in the Mississippi Sound, our return afternoon trip gave us the opportunity to see the riverboat MISSISSIPPI QUEEN steaming westward in the Intracoastal Waterway. With a nice easterly 8-10 knot breeze, my two other sailing companions and me sailed our boats (Tartan 37, Hunter 29.5, Elite 37)northward just in time to see the QUEEN pass by. Since there appeared to be no passengers on board, we later speculated she was returning to New Orleans following maintenance at some unknown shipyard to the east. Anyway, we enjoyed seeing her steaming by with paddle wheel churning all the way. Oh yea...with temperatures in the 70's and full sun to compliment the blue skies and waters of the Gulf of Mexico, we enjoyed a splendid day on our boats. Dick Dixons/v CD EXPRESSElite 37
