It can be done!
I had my H34 rating changed with the Lake Michigan PHRF committee, but you need to produce a mountain of supporting material. Most PHRFs are not interested in beer can JAM events in the evening. They want round the buoy spin events on Sat. or Sun. when the wind is stable, to evaluate. A few off shores thrown in also help. Get all the data you can in these events. AND, You need to show how your boat compares to other well known high production models in the other areas that have similar wind conditions. Other models, t-10s, J-24s, J-30s, S-2s. Sanfrancisco is considered windy and Tampa is lite wind. What your are comparing is the DIFFERENCE in the spread between your boat and the others. To big (or to small depending if you are comparing to a slower or faster boat)a spread in your area may indicate they need to adjust your PHRF. Obviously pick the boats that support your case. Also note that in most cases these other boats all have about the same spread amongst themselves, as there are a lot of them for PHRF to gather data and make their rulings.Good luckPJWe asked for 6 sec and got 3
