West FL PhRF has my new 2000 Catalina 320 rated at 165 for Non-Spin with up to a 155% Genoa and a 3 bladed fixed prop.. This seems too low a rating and I have not been sailing up to this. Any comments on Ratings for your area on a 320? Has anyone put on a feathering prop to improve performamnce?

I agree with youl....Too low!I have a 95 cat. 320. My class rating was set at 153... I appealed and got it raised to 156...Add 3 seconds for smaller Jib and 18 for non spin. and I come in at 177. Still find that I can't match some boats I feel I should...( couldn't be skipper error could it? )...Especialy get pissed off when I have to give time to cat 36 or other boats bigger than me.....As to your other question...I have the 2 bladed max prop and it does make a big differance in the lighter winds...Lots of power in reverse also.RG.

Hi Joe: Have your boat rerated. I did some checking on Eastern Connecticut Sailing Association on rating. I have a catalina 30 rating are 192-213 for stannard and for tall is 180-202 rigging.For a 34ft. is 147-169 for a stannard and for a tall rig is 141-163this rating for non-spins. You should have points add on for your prop and you mite lose some points for your 155% jib.When ecsa rates my boat they start at my sails first. If you need info rating go to ECSA.Net this will help you some what. good luck and happen racing in 2002 year.
