Permanent head for H25

I want to permanently install the head in my '82 H25. I already have a Sealand 965 portable with a five gallon holding tank, but I'm interested in the SeaLand Traveler 711-M28 with a nine gallon tank. I want the additional holding capacity, but mostly I'm interested in a deeper, more comfortable toilet bowl. The bowl on the 900 is just too shallow for my liking! Is the Traveler bowl significantly bigger/deeper? Installing the 711 would require some surgery, because the holding tank is too deep for the fiberglass "ledge" that the portapotty currently sits on. If I remember correctly, the portapotty ledge is about 14" deep, and the Sealand tank is somewhere between 19" and 21" deep, so the 711 would stick out too far & block access to the v-berth. Is there any significant amount of wasted space between the cabin liner and the outer hull? In other words, can I cut out the back of the factory hull liner, and gain enough space to shove the 711 tank further back out of the way? By the way, I can't just go see for myself, because I'm two months into a six month Army tour of duty in Djibouti, Africa. right now, I'm putting together my "to do list" for when I return-- install permanent head, new mainsail, new central A/C, rebuild the trailer, do a bottom job.......

The 711-M28 bowl is a lot closer to "household"

size...and it's a nice china bowl--the same one SeaLand uses for their ultra-pricy VacuFlush. However, there's one issue you may have overlooked: the 711-M28 is designed to use pressurized flush water...to tap into the onboard fresh water supply. So whether you can make it fit or not, if you don't carry enough fresh water to spare any for toilet flushing, or you boat doesn't have an electric fresh water pump, you can't use the 711-M28 Marine Traveler unless you also buy and install a sea water pump to supply flush water...which would also mean installing a thru-hull for it. Even if you're willing to do that, it would use so much more flush water that you'd lose any holding capacity compared to your 965 portapotty. Is your 965 portable, or the 965MSD model that can be permanently installed and fitted for pumpout? If it's the MSD version, you'd prob'ly be better off sticking with it...'cuz if you can't use the 711-M28, any other system will require installing a toilet, separate holding tank and all the related plumbing.

Thanks, Peggy

I appreciate your quick & detailed response. I guess I'll have to wait until I return home to see if the project is worth doing. I plan on moving the water tank out from under the cockpit anyway. Maybe putting it under the starboard settee, centrally located between the galley & head, would make sense. Or maybe I should suffer through with the 965 until I'm ready to move up to an H30 in a couple of years.
