DougM, good question on reoccurrence. My suspicion is that the problem was in the process or the varnish material, not the wood. However, to hedge my bets, every panel that I could remove I have taken home and sanded with a DA and then restained (ZAR Teak Natural) before applying new varnish. I'm taking more chances with the stuff I can't remove. I've hand sanded it but that's just a light surface prep, not as thorough as the DA. Then a wipe with mineral spirits, then varnish. First coat thinned 50%, then a couple more coats unthinned. Thorough fine sanding between coats. My oldest work has been in service for about three years now and it looks as good as the day I finished it. The last was done over a year ago (so nearly two full seasons on it) and still looking great.
