The orange paint is a "red" Bottom Shield paint from WM. It is the finish coat. Here is a link showing the black, which I used on the C-27. They are ablative but harder than "ablative paint". They key ingrediant is copper flakes which when you stir you can see if you look closely. The can is weights much heavier than a regular can of paint. It goes on smoothly and evenly. I used two coats. The silver in the second pict is the primer/barrier coat.

I'm on the Long Island Sound in New York... We get some good growth over here in the summer months and I would be more than happy to assist in your experiment
