yatch specialties pedestal parts I have an early H28.5. The pedestal's "!plastic!" housing (Y321-0110) thru which the throttle lever's axle travels, broke/cracked. It just busted out of the whole that holds the axle which also keeps the lever mounting for the cable on the inside. Are these "housings" available anywhere or do I need to try super glue it, then drill in to make a stud - then reinforce the fitting with some fiberflass screening and pack it with autobody filler. Anybody have this happen to them and what did you do??

went out of business some time ago and I know of no source for original parts for their steering/pedestal systems. I have had some luck, however, by contacting a number of rigging shops in this area and letting them know that I am looking for various parts for these systems. Every now and then, someone changes out these old system for a new Edson and some usable parts become available. I suggest you contact all the rigging shops in and around your area and ask them to let you know if some old system/parts become available. You've got nothing to lose...

Contact the HOW Store.

There was a company that sold this part through the HOW store some time back. You may contact Phil or Bly and ask them if they can sell you one, or they can point you in his direction.

Same thing happened 2 years ago and I just about took out the dock. Constance Machine shop in Washington State sent me a great replacement. Looks like polished aluminum but not sure. It was a perfect fit. Try http://www.joesracing.com/machine/.

was it plastic or AL? Roughly what did it cost and how long was turn around time? I found a "constance machine " in Mukilteo WA.... same??? Was the replacement the same shape, height and diameter so that I can mount the compass atop it??? plz advise. BTW - luckily I was backing out of the slip when it happened.

Jim, Not plastic, but I am not sure of the type of metal. It is a beautifully machined part which is identical to the plastic original. They had them on the shelf and I only had to wait for shipping-approx. 10 days to Canada. At the time it was just over C$300. It was easy to install. There were no extra modifications, drilling, tapping etc required, except for the compass. It took about an hour and I just put the original compass right back on top. I had to drill some pilot holes for the screws for the compass. Again, an easy install. No problems since. Yes, the other name for the place was Constance machine shop. I left it the silver color. It looks pretty sharp.
