I have a 1990 Pearson 33-2 with the wing keel. I have owned the boat for the past 5 years. The keel is in good condition and it does not appear it ever hit anything. This year when the boat was hauled I was able to notice the joint between where the lead keel attached to the fiberglass stub. There is a noticeable seam running almost the entire length of the keel. I checked the nuts on the keel bolts and they look ok, I never had any water in the bilge.
Should I be concerned about the seam?
Thanks
Forrest

Hello Forrest,
On my P36-2 I had a slight opening at the joint of the hull and keel, specifically in the front. Two years ago I used a grinder and went completely around the keel/hull joint. Cleaned and let dry. In most parts it only made a slight groove as it was well attached. Then wife filled the area with 5200. Has been perfect ever since. By the way, previous to this, I was also not getting water in the bilge.

Good Luck!

NYSail,
Thanks for the info, I will see what it looks like in the spring and may do what you did,and also torque the keel bolt nuts.
